A Day in the Life of Sales & New Product Development

The Sales team is divided between the UK accounts and the Export accounts. The sales team is the first point of contact for customers within Farne and the staff will liaise between customers and the business to ensure total service to our customers.

The sales team’s role is to sustain volumes and deliver profitable growth. This entails regular meetings with customers to review current business and to evaluate ways to generate growth via the development of new products, the organisation of promotions and in-store tastings, the management of the category…

The sales team and the New Product development team work closely together in order to meet customer and company objectives.

The New Product Development team is responsible for creating new, innovative and exciting products within the smoked salmon and seafood sector.
This involves brainstorming ideas, recipe formulation, sourcing new packaging and ingredients, responding to customer needs as well as pro-actively keeping abreast of new ingredients and food trends.

Following customer approval of new products, product trials are carried out ensuring recipes are produced correctly and safely within the factory environment keeping within all factory procedures from microbiology, taste panel assessments and storage to packaging design and launching onto supermarket shelf.
