Since starting business in 1982 Farne has come a long way. Below is a summary of major events in the life of Farne.

1982
Farne starts trading with a staff of 6
1983
First UK retailer on board
1984
Export to Europe starts
80s -
early 90s
Significant sales growth through increased popularity of salmon.
1996
Opening of Added Value Factory and start of “convenience” foods with salmon based appetisers and various finger foods.
1998
Opening of £7m smoked salmon factory.
2000/01
Change in management accompanied by a new strategy to build partnerships with our core clients.
2003
UK Frozen and Chilled Exporter of the Year (Food from Britain Award).
2004
Acquisition by Groupe Labeyrie, European specialist in premium foods including Smoked Salmon, Duck, spreads and blinis.
SuperMeat Awards “Best salmon product of the year” for Tesco Traditionally Smoked salmon 150g
UK Seafood Exporter of the Year (Food from Britain Award).
Acquisition of Groupe Labeyrie by SIF.
2005
Nominated for Borders New Ways Export Award
Nominated for Food From Britain Exporter of the Year Award
1 of the 4 finalists for the Food Manufacture Excellence Awards in the Seafood category
Winner of Supplier innovation award by Tesco
